Reporter KC Kelly of the Examiner in Palm Beach reports about a second law suit that was filed against Henderson Mental Health in Tamarac Florida. It is alleged that Mervin Span sexually abused another woman.
This morning, attorney Samuel Rogatinsky announced a new lawsuit against Henderson Mental Health.
The lawsuit alleges that Span began demanding that Jane Doe 6 engage in sexual contact with him as part of “counseling” It further alleges that Span brought Jane Doe No. 6 to various mental institutions and facilities where people with extreme cases of mental illness and debilitation were being treated.
The lawsuit alleges that Span repeatedly told Jane Doe that if she refused his sexual demands he would use his power and authority as her counselor to ensure that she ended up in one of the facilities as well. Following the the threats and coercion, Span forced Jane Doe to engage in oral sex and sexual intercourse on numerous occasions. Jane Doe felt so isolated and afraid that she tried to take her own life to escape Span.

A lawsuit alleging horrific sexual acts committed by an employee of Henderson Mental Health in Tamarac was filed this morning by attorneys, Jeff Herman and Samuel Rogatinsky.
The lawsuit alleges that Jane Doe 1 was sexually assaulted by Henderson Mental Health Center, LLC and Henderson Mental Health Center Inc. employee, MERVIN SPAN.
It is alleged that Melvin Span raped Jane Doe 1 and threatened her asserting that he was “in control” of her case and that he could make sure her child was taken away from her if she caused any more trouble for him. He demanded that Jane Doe 1 cook him breakfast and proceeded to nap on her couch for several hours.

JEFF HERMAN AND SAMUEL ROGATINSKY, ESQ, announce the filing of a new lawsuit against HENDERSON MENTAL HEALTH CENTER, a South Florida mental health provider.
According to the lawsuit, the victim, identified in the lawsuit as Jane Doe No. 1, received case management and counseling services from Henderson in conjunction with a dependency proceeding involving the custody of her young son. In exchange for participating in the Henderson program, a judge allowed Jane Doe No. 1 to keep her son. Instead of providing services, the lawsuit claims that MERVIN SPAN, the Henderson counselor assigned to care for the Doe family, demanded sexual favors from Jane Doe No. 1 and threatened to remove her son from her home if she refused.
The lawsuit says SPAN engaged Jane Doe in unwanted sexual relations on multiple occasions between December 2010 and February 2011. During that time, she made multiple attempts to have a new counselor assigned to the family, but to no avail.
Jane Doe No. 1 v. Henderson Mental Health Center, LLC, will be filed in Broward County Circuit Court on Wednesday morning. Copies of the lawsuit will be available at the press event.
